From the recording Thank you
Lyrics
I'm but an instant, a fleeting spark in this timeline
How did we make it on to this same Polaroid picture baby?
Now you've taken
You've kept my years
Wouldn't change it
Yes. I give them gladly in exchange for your love
Sometimes it's easy and other times it tests us
We all carry the weight of our past
Our successes and failures
Through it all, this much we've learned
Not to push beyond them
The unseen lines where it starts to hurt
Evading the pain
In the middle of the book of "US" we drew them upon your womb
These tiny flowers
You gave life
Witness to your magic and their light
A new part of you. Now a part of me
Sometimes it's easy and other times it tests us
We all carry the weight of our past
Our successes and failures
Through it all, this much we've learned
Not to push beyond them
The unseen lines where it starts to hurt
Evading the pain
We're but an instant, a fleeting spark in this timeline
The dice of destiny have clearly fallen in our favor
Now you've taken
You've kept my years
Wouldn't change it
I give them gladly in exchange for your love
This is not just my feeble attempt at poetry
It seems to me to be, quite simply, my best way of saying: "Thank you"
