Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Hernan Morales, co-founder of Redimus (with Fernando Flores), has a journey that is as diverse as his musical influences.
Born in Salto, Uruguay, Hernan moved to Sydney, Australia at the tender age of one with his family.
This early relocation set the stage for a life rich in cultural and musical diversity.
At 15, his family returned to Uruguay, but the seeds of his musical journey were already sown.
Musical Influences and Education
Hernan's musical influences began at home with his mother's eclectic vinyl collection, featuring artists like Air Supply, ABBA, the Beatles, and Sheena Easton. His father's love for Uruguayan folk music further broadened his musical palette. Australia's multicultural society exposed him to Andean music, igniting a passion that led him to learn instruments like the Sikus (pan pipes), quena, and charango. He even formed an Andean music band with high school friends.
Hernan's musical tastes continued to evolve, embracing genres from hair metal to reggae, and artists like Yousundur, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Miles Davis, Van Halen, and Toto. The influence of Steve Lukather was particularly significant, along with the music of Uruguayan artists Jaime Roos and Mateo, and Argentinean bands like Soda Stereo and Fito Paez.
Musical Journey and Development
At around 13, Hernan started playing the acoustic guitar, a choice influenced by financial constraints rather than preference.
He discovered his singing voice at 14, becoming a staple at campfire parties with his songs.
Hernan's musical talent led him to join Brumas, a well-known Uruguayan covers band. With Brumas, he toured extensively across Uruguay, Brazil, and Argentina.
Shift in Focus and Rediscovery
However, life on the road took its toll on Hernan's personal life. Concurrently studying software development, he eventually landed a stable job and gradually drifted away from music.
The onset of Covid-19 marked a turning point.
The pandemic-induced isolation and the inability to visit Uruguay, where he now lives in Dublin, Ireland, reignited his musical passion.
Encouraged by his lifelong friend and fellow musician, Fernando Flores, Hernan realized it was time to seize the moment.
Formation of Redimus
In a serendipitous turn of events, Hernan and Fernando decided to combine their talents, leading to the creation of Redimus in 2022.
This partnership, years in the making, is a testament to their enduring friendship and shared love for music. Redimus represents not just a new chapter in the duo's life but a culmination of diverse musical experiences and the realization of a lifelong dream.

Hernan Morales, cofundador de Redimus (con Fernando Flores), tiene una trayectoria tan diversa como sus influencias musicales.
Nacido en Salto, Uruguay, se mudó a Sydney, Australia, a la edad de un año con su familia.
Esta temprana reubicación preparó el escenario para una vida rica en diversidad cultural y musical.
A los 15 años, su familia regresó a Uruguay, pero las semillas de su viaje musical ya estaban sembradas.
Influencias Musicales y Educación
Las influencias musicales de Hernan comenzaron en casa con la ecléctica colección de vinilos de su madre.
Con artistas como Air Supply, ABBA, The Beatles y Sheena Easton. El amor de su padre por la música folclórica uruguaya y latinoamericana amplió aún más su paleta musical.
La sociedad multicultural de Australia lo expuso a la música andina, encendiendo una pasión que lo llevó a aprender instrumentos como el Sikus (flauta de pan), quena y charango. Incluso formó una banda de música andina con amigos del colegio.
Los gustos musicales de Hernan continuaron evolucionando, abrazando géneros desde el metal hasta el reggae, y artistas como Yousundur, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Miles Davis, Van Halen y Toto.

Viaje y Desarrollo Musical
A los 13 años, Hernan comenzó a tocar la guitarra acústica, una elección influenciada más por restricciones financieras que por preferencia.
Descubrió su voz para cantar a los 14 años, convirtiéndose en un pilar en las fiestas con fogatas con sus canciones.
El talento musical de Hernan lo llevó a unirse a Brumas, una conocida banda de versiones(covers) uruguaya.
Con Brumas, realizó extensas giras por Uruguay, Brasil y Argentina.
Cambio de Enfoque y Redescubrimiento
Sin embargo, la vida en la carretera cobró su precio en la vida personal de Hernan. Al mismo tiempo que estudiaba desarrollo de software, eventualmente consiguió un trabajo estable y gradualmente se alejó de la música.
La llegada del Covid-19 marcó un punto de inflexión. El aislamiento inducido por la pandemia y la incapacidad de visitar Uruguay, donde ahora vive en Dublín, Irlanda, reavivó su pasión musical.
Alentado por su amigo de toda la vida y compañero músico, Fernando Flores, Hernan se dio cuenta de que era el momento de aprovechar el momento.
Formación de Redimus
En un giro serendípito de los acontecimientos, Hernan y Fernando decidieron combinar sus talentos, lo que llevó a la creación de Redimus en 2022.
Esta asociación, años en formación, es un testimonio de su duradera amistad y amor compartido por la música. Redimus representa no solo un nuevo capítulo en la vida de Hernan, sino la culminación de sus diversas experiencias musicales y la realización de un sueño de toda la vida.
